TNT Super Series racers ready for double duty at St Thomas Dragway!

LONDON, ONTARIO (June 29, 2008)  When the Benson Tour rolls into St Thomas Dragway this weekend (July 4-6), there will be the usual cast of bracket racing contenders.  On Saturday night, Performance Unlimited is presenting the popular sportsman program known as the Joe’s Transmission TNT Super Series.  The extremely competitive series will run later in the day along side the Top Dragster and Top Sportsman show.

Being the only Southwestern Ontario stop on the 2008 TNT schedule, a new batch of competitors are expected for this – Race #4 – in the 9 event points chase.  “Our usual racers will be there, but I think some folks that we haven’t seen yet this year will try their hand at index racing,” said Bill Barnes, TNT Series coordinator.  “We really don’t know what to expect for car count.  We just know it’s going to be a fabulous show!”

The TNT program will be run on the 1/8th mile using a 7.00 index, .500 heads up pro tree and what’s called an “all-run” field – meaning everyone makes it into eliminations.  Qualifying does matter though – it determines the racer’s position on the ladder and who their competition is going to be.

Both qualifying and eliminations will take place on Saturday July 5th.  “Of course if the event is delayed for any reason, we have Sunday as a buffer,” added Bill.

“Qualifying for TNT Hot Rod will begin when the bracket class eliminations near completion on Saturday afternoon – somewhere around 3pm I expect,” said Arnie Malcolm, Benson Tour.  “And the Saturday night show will be terrific for the fans – with Top Dragster, Top Sportsman and these TNT Hot Rod cars.”

Time trials for the bracket classes start at 8am on Saturday with qualifying for TNT Hot Rod at 3pm and then TNT eliminations to follow.

Every TNT event including July 5th guarantees a minimum of $500 to win, rewards #1 qualifier with a $50 Hoosier Canada certificate, pays $25 round money for EVERY round win, posts contingency money for both winner & runner-up and counts for points towards lucrative TNT yearend awards.
