TNT Super Series visits Empire Dragway for second of two WNY events this weekend
Gillogly Resale presents event five in Western New York / Southern Ontario sportsman series
WEST SENECA, NEW YORK (June 1, 2010) In four years of racing, the Joe’s Transmission TNT Super Series has never held an event at Empire Dragway. That’s about to change as the popular sportsman series heads to the Leicester, New York facility this Saturday June 5th.
“We’re excited to work with Bob and Donna Metcalfe and to expand the TNT series even further into Western New York,” said Ted Barnes TNT Series Director. This is the Metcalfe family's 25th year running the facility formerly known as New York International Raceway Park.
Gillogly Resale presents this Saturday's ¼ mile event which runs on a 10.90 index with a .500 pro tree heads-up start. It is the fifth of thirteen events in the 2010 TNT Super Series season.
Bill Elekes of Gillogly Resale has been a TNT participant and strong supporter since day one. In fact, Bill most recently finished number four in the 2009 TNT points chase.
“The car is capable of running a 9-second number pretty easily. But with this series being so competitive and run as well as it is, we chose to slow the car down and chase the TNT points,” said Bill. “It’s a pretty neat deal to see this series continue to grow.”
In his 37th year of racing, Bill is no stranger to on-track success. In fact, Bill has been in a TNT final round five different times. His 1975 Monza is powered by a 470 big block Chev that pushes the 2600 lb racecar to the 10.90 index at over 146 mph.
Gillogly Resale has been selling cars and trucks since 1954. Located in West Seneca, NY, Gillogly also carries many types of race car trailers. Visit www.gilloglyresale.com for more information.
Gates open Saturday at 1pm at Empire Dragway with the first of three qualifying sessions for Joe's Transmission TNT Super Series cars at 3pm. The track is also running its full bracket program with TNT competitors allowed to run the bracket classes too if they choose. Visit www.empiredragway.com for full details.
