COUNTDOWN to a Championship
- Dave Gunn -
2016 TNT Super Series SECOND PLACE
NIAGARA FALLS, ONTARIO (December 10, 2016) Dave Gunn from Hamilton, Ontario finished second in the 2016 Joe's Transmission TNT Super Series. The Canadian started the season strong and never fell below fourth place all year.
A win on opening weekend at Cayuga plus a semi-final appearance at Empire had Gunn in the hunt for the title all season long. Add two #1 qualifiers and he earned 619 points making himself a threat for the championship right up until the final weekend.
"There are so many people to thank," said Gunn. "I would like to again thank Ted Barnes for creating and running this great series and Joe Boniferro for his support in sponsoring and directing the series."
Gunn went on to thank his wife Glenna for her support and long time friend and sponsor Mark Lawrence at Gary's Transmission in St. Anns Ontario.
"Want to mention Matt Devries at Matt's Auto Service also in St. Anns. And thanks to Scott Turner at Northtown Machine in Welland for such a great job building my 440 stroked to 511 cubic inch Mopar. Over 500 passes on it and it's still working great."
Gunn also wanted to thank Tim Miller of the Hamilton Spectator. "Tim wrote an article earlier this year about my father and my own racing career that was awesome."
Gunn's hot rod runs 9.50 at 140 mph off the stop and 10.90 at 136 mph on the stop. "Congrats to Jim Thomson on a well-deserved championship. I really liked racing this series with a great group of competitors and am looking forward to next year."
