TNT Super Series top five in 2009 - Paul Young - Champion

Strong, consistent performance was key to championship season

ALDEN, NEW YORK  (January 10, 2010)  There were 47 competitors in the 2009 Joe's Transmission TNT Super Series and when the dust settled, it was Paul Young who was the man to beat.  After finishing second in the points standings in 2008, the Alden NY based driver got the job done in 2009 and earned his first championship in the popular sportsman drag racing series.

Joe Boniferro, Paul Young and Ted Barnes (TNT Series Director)A consistent runner, Paul qualified in the top ten a total of eight times in the eleven events he attended.  Add to that three final round appearances, semi-final and quarter-final finishes and Paul deserves the title of 2009 Joe's Transmission TNT Super Series Champion.

Paul slowly worked his way into the points lead from early in the season.  In a series stacked with heavy-hitters, Paul proved consistency and strong runs are key to winning a championship.  Highlights this season include his dominate performance on the June 13-14 weekend at Cayuga Dragway where Paul scored a runner-up on Saturday and won on Sunday.  But the race that made the difference was Labor Day Weekend Sunday.  Paul's number one qualifying effort combined with a final round appearance gave him the points lead...and he never gave it back.

At the wheel for 10 years, Paul mentioned highlights of his racing career include the Ironman he won at the 2006 IHRA Canadian Nationals at Cayuga Dragway in the bracket class - and this Hot Rod championship.  "The people involved in this TNT series are great friends and they make it alot of fun to race in."

Joe Boniferro, the series' title sponsor, speaks very highly of the TNT Super Series competitors.  "These guys work really hard and put on a terrific show for the fans," said Joe.  "I'm proud to be a part of this series since it began and am excited to see it enter its fourth season next year."

2009 TNT Super Series Champion Paul YoungThe 1966 Ford Fairlane is a well equipped machine.  Powered by a 550 cid Ford with a powerglide transmission, this seriously red racecar always runs close to the index .  "Al Linsey does great work with our engines, CFM Carburetors does there part and John Drogi painted the car," added Paul.

Paul's dad Tom, is always close at hand when Paul is on the race track.  "We would like to thank the people at Clarence Napa, Drogi & Sons Automotive and Grand Rental Station for helping us run this car," mentioned Tom. "And the Jozwiaks, my brother Ken & nephew Brian, the Halleen family and of course Joe Boniferro for making this series what it is."

The 2010 racing season for the Young team will include defending their Joe's Transmission TNT Super Series title as well as some divisional and national events.
